Next ICW should probe Baramuli<\/p>\n

The Indonesian Corruption Watch (ICW) birthday present to Andi
\nGhalib resulted in the dethroning of the latter from his post as
\nattorney general. It is an interesting matter, especially in
\nrelation to President B.J. Habibie's endeavor to gain the
\npresidency again, which is indirectly supported by a group of
\nIslamic parties wanting to obstruct Megawati Soekarnoputri.<\/p>\n
I think ICW should continue its inquiry into A.A. Baramuli,
\nwho is currently chairman of the Supreme Advisory Council.
\nBaramuli will do everything in his power to support B.J. Habibie
\nin order to keep his current position.<\/p>\n
ICW should undertake an in depth investigation into Baramuli's
\n"contribution to the construction of mosques and churches" in
\nSulawesi. He said it was derived from "profit from his group of
\ncompanies" with Rp 10 billion in revenues per month. Is that
\ntrue?<\/p>\n
One should read the list of companies who postpone repayment
\nof their debts. Number 1073 is PT Polelo Trading Co: Rp 14.8
\nbillion and number 1648 is PT Poleko Yubarsan Trading Co: Rp 5.2
\nbillion. If this data is correct, Baramuli does not deserve to
\ncall himself a reformist, because he still carries the New Order
\nmentality by delaying debt payments. The facts bear out that he
\nis not "a good leader".<\/p>\n
If ICW succeeds in this case, it will follow up with other
\ncases. For example solving the Soeharto mystery with the
\nassistance of former Bank Indonesia director Paul Sutopo. I am
\nconvinced that the Indonesian people will then have more courage
\nto assist in uncovering cases of corruption, collusion and
\nnepotism (locally known as KKN) in the whole country. I think
\nthat the yield will be sufficient to cover all of Indonesia's
\ndebts. We do not need to pass the burden of our debts to the next
\ngeneration.<\/p>\n
Teten Masduki, Bambang Widjoyanto, Wardah Hafidz, Mulya Lubis,
\nDanuri and others should close ranks, strengthen their solidarity
\nand have faith that their endeavors will allow the 2000
\ngeneration to enjoy the beauty of a debt-free Indonesia.<\/p>\n
