        "content": "<p>New Zealand&apos;s statement on Joop expected today<\/p>\n<p>WELLINGTON (AFP): New Zealand&apos;s foreign minister, Don<br>\nMcKinnon, is to issue a statement today on allegations an<br>\nIndonesian cabinet minister indecently assaulted a hotel employee<br>\nin Auckland, the New Zealand Press Association reported<br>\nyesterday.<\/p>\n<p>The hotel employee, a young man, reportedly told police he was<br>\nindecently assaulted by the Indonesian minister when he was<br>\ncalled to a room in the hotel.<\/p>\n<p>McKinnon received a report on the incident when he returned<br>\nfrom an overseas trip at the weekend.<\/p>\n<p>NZPA reported a spokesman for McKinnon as saying the minister<br>\nwas likely to issue a statement today. The report is to be<br>\ndiscussed at a routine cabinet meeting this morning.<\/p>\n<p>Indonesian Tourism, Post and Telecommunication Minister Joop<br>\nAve on Saturday denied having molested the employee, calling the<br>\nincident a &quot;misunderstanding&quot; following allegations in the New<br>\nZealand media naming him as the minister.<\/p>\n<p>Ave left Auckland by private jet following the alleged<br>\nincident, failing to attend an international tourism conference<br>\nin the city.<\/p>\n<p>He said that the hotel&apos;s general manager informed him that the<br>\nwaiter had filed a complaint saying he had been molested and had<br>\ngone to the police as well as the press.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;I responded that there must be a misunderstanding and that it<br>\nwas not true,&quot; Ave said. He also said that he later called<br>\nJakarta to report on the &quot;unfortunate and wholly unexpected turn<br>\nof events&quot; and received instructions to return home as soon as<br>\npossible.<\/p>",
