Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia — Apple is reportedly preparing to launch its
first touchscreen laptop in more than a decade. The latest MacBook Pro
is expected to be unveiled at an event on 28 October 2026.

On Monday (19 October 2026), Apple sent invitations to a product
launch event on 28 October titled “Apple Experience in Los Angeles”. An
email received by media outlets said “Pro and tell”, hinting at a
premium product carrying the “Pro” label and featuring an
in-house-designed chip.

Melius Research analyst Ben Reitzes expects the new Mac product to
have a touchscreen.

Apple is also said to have provided several clues in the macOS 27
beta, including touch support for Sidecar, a pull-to-refresh feature and
slightly larger menu bar elements.

The latest MacBook Pro is expected to use a Tandem OLED panel, a
technology also used in the iPad Pro. The panel combines several OLED
layers to produce richer colours, stronger contrast and higher
brightness.

The laptop is also rumoured to feature a Dynamic Island smaller than
the one on the iPhone. However, the device is not expected to support
Face ID.

To support touchscreen use, Apple is reportedly preparing interface
changes to macOS. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reported that the system will
display additional menus around users’ fingers when they touch certain
buttons or controls.

The size of some controls will also adjust to make them easier to
select with a finger. These changes are intended to make touchscreen
navigation more practical.

In terms of performance, the latest MacBook Pro is expected to use M5
Pro and M5 Max chips. Apple is reportedly no longer planning to
introduce M6 Pro and M6 Max chips in this model, while development of
the M7 chip is expected to be one of the company’s next priorities.

Apple is also said to be making the MacBook Pro thinner and lighter
by redesigning its internal components. The changes are expected to
improve comfort without compromising the device’s cooling system.

Apple could release the latest MacBook Pro on 6 November 2026. The
launch would be part of a four-week run of new Apple products, including
the iPhone Duo, HomePod mini 2, the latest MacBook Pro, HomeView and
Apple TV 4K.
",
