New toll road project starts<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): The Minister of Public Works, Radinal Moochtar,
\nled a ground breaking ceremony launching the construction of the
\nCikampek-Purwakarta-Padalarang toll road yesterday.<\/p>\n
The ceremony, taking place at the Kalihurip village in
\nCikampek, West Java, was attended by the president of the Citra
\nGroup, Siti Hardiyanti Rukmana.<\/p>\n
\"It is the first toll road project involving foreign
\ninvestment. I hope that things will run smoothly,\" she said.<\/p>\n
PT Citra Ganesha Marga Nusantara of the Citra Group, in
\ncooperation with Trafalgar House Construction of England, is the
\ninvestor for the 66 kilometer turnpike.<\/p>\n
The project, at a cost of US$640 million, is scheduled for
\ncompletion in 2000.<\/p>\n
The project has two stages. The first stage is the
\nconstruction of the Cikampek-Purwakarta segment, which will be
\ncompleted in 1998. The second stage will involve the Purwakarta-
\nPadalarang segment.<\/p>\n
The toll road is expected to boost industrial development in
\nWest Java, the Vice Governor of West Java, Ukman Sutaryan, was
