New Thai FM begins work<\/p>\n
BANGKOK (AFP): Thailand's new foreign minister, billionaire
\nThaksin Shinawatra, wasted no time settling into office,
\nbeginning with throwing out all his predecessor's belongings,
\nincluding the toilet and sink, a ministry official said
\nyesterday.<\/p>\n
Thaksin, who founded Thailand's second-largest company,
\nShinawatra Communications and Computer, brought some 100 company
\nemployees to his new offices at the Saranrom palace on Wednesday
\nand carried out a demolition which saw the toilet yanked out and
\ntable lamps tossed, the official said.<\/p>\n
The tycoon, who is also a former policeman, was checking for
\nlistening devices, the official said, pointing out that outgoing
\nforeign minister Prasong Soonsiri, now Thaksin's arch enemy, was
\nthe long-time chief of Thailand's intelligence branch, the
\nNational Security Council.<\/p>\n
\"Thaksin is a man in communications business, so he knows how
\nbugging is done,\" the official told AFP.<\/p>",
