        "content": "<p>New team for bank mergers<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): Bank Indonesia (BI) announced yesterday that the<br>\ngovernment had formed a team to coordinate mergers,<br>\nconsolidations and acquisitions of commercial banks.<\/p>\n<p>BI director Achwan said in a statement that the coordinating<br>\nteam would provide a &quot;one-stop service&quot; to commercial banks<br>\nwanting to restructure.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;This one-stop service aims to reduce bureaucracy chains, time<br>\nand costs needed for mergers, consolidations and acquisitions,&quot;<br>\nAchwan said.<\/p>\n<p>The coordinating team was formed based on BI decree No.<br>\n31\/18\/KEP\/DIR, dated April 22.<\/p>\n<p>Members of the team include representatives from BI, the<br>\nDirectorate General of Financial Institutions and Directorate<br>\nGeneral of Taxes in the Ministry of Finance, the Directorate<br>\nGeneral of Legal Affairs and Legislation in the Ministry of<br>\nJustice, the Indonesian Bank Restructuring Agency and the<br>\nDirectorate General of Administration and Provincial Autonomy in<br>\nthe Ministry of Home Affairs.<\/p>\n<p>Achwan said the team would start work today and be in<br>\noperation until the end of this year.
