New police post dedicated<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Chief of City Police Maj. Gen. Hindarto
\ndedicated a new police post near the Bintara housing complex in
\nWest Bekasi on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
"The new police post is a pilot project to test the
\nfeasibility of establishing such posts in other parts of the
\ncity," Hindarto said at the dedication ceremony.<\/p>\n
He said standard police posts built on spacious plots of land
\nand equipped with modern facilities are badly needed to keep up
\nwith the rapid development of the city, which is opening up new
\nresidential and business areas.<\/p>\n
The new post was built by the developer of the Griya Bintara
\nIndah housing complex on a 472-square-meter plot of land at a
\ncost of Rp 79 million (US$35,900). The money for the structure,
\nwhich was donated to the City Police, was donated by area
\nresidents.<\/p>\n
The post is equipped with a wide variety of supporting
\nfacilities, including computers, telephone equipment and
\ndetention cells capable of accommodating six people.<\/p>\n
The facility is expected to help police officers improve
\nservice to the public, Hindarto said. (hhr)<\/p>",
