New phone lines for E. Jakarta<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): To commemorate the golden anniversary of
\nIndonesia's independence, the East Jakarta office of the state-
\nowned telecommunications firm PT Telkom is offering 10,578 new
\ntelephone lines in 14 East Jakarta districts.<\/p>\n
Rizal Saat, the head of the East Jakarta Telecommunications
\nOffice, said the 14 districts are Jatinegara, Cawang, Pondok
\nKelapa, Rawamangun, Kelapa Gading, Penggilingan, Tebet, Pasar
\nRebo, Pondok Gede, Cibubur, Cibinong, Cisalak, Gunung Putri and
\nCileungsi.<\/p>\n
The 10,578 telephone lines will come into operation seven days
\nafter the new customers have paid their instalation charges.<\/p>\n
Rizal said that the firm will give a 25 percent discount to
\nthe public and a 50 percent discount to independence war veterans
\nwho pay in cash.<\/p>\n
He said that 807 new telephone lines have been installed so
\nfar.<\/p>\n
Of 67,000 applicants, 10,500 applicants have been served,
\nwhile the remaining 56,500 applications are currently being
\nprocessed.<\/p>\n
He said that the company's East Jakarta office is setting up
\nnew telephone lines and is expanding the central capacities of
\nservice units in Klender, Gandaria, Pekayon, Kranji, Kaliabang
\nand Cawang.<\/p>\n
Rizal said the Pulogebang service unit, now under
\nconstruction, is scheduled for operation in November.<\/p>\n
To commemorate Indonesia's anniversary, Rizal's office will
\nre-paint all public telephone booths located in East Jakarta. \"We
\nwill also put special independence anniversary logos on all our
