        "content": "<p>New museum at Taman Mini<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): President Soeharto inaugurated the electricity<br>\nand new energy museum at the Indonesia-in-Miniature Park (Taman<br>\nMini Indonesia Indah) yesterday in conjunction with the park&apos;s<br>\n20th anniversary.<\/p>\n<p>The inauguration was marked with the sounding of a siren and<br>\nthe signing of a plaque by the President.<\/p>\n<p>The inauguration ceremony was attended by First Lady Mrs. Tien<br>\nSoeharto, Vice President Try Sutrisno and Madame Tuty Try<br>\nSutrisno, member of the sixth development cabinet and foreign<br>\nambassadors.<\/p>\n<p>Minister of Mines and Energy I.B. Sudjana reported at the<br>\nceremony that the museum was built at a cost of Rp 17 billion<br>\n(US$7.72 million) on three hectares of land.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;The museum is expected to pass on the historical role of<br>\nenergy before and after the independence of this country to the<br>\nnext generation,&quot; Sudjana said.<\/p>\n<p>The new facility is the second energy museum in the park,<br>\nafter the oil and gas museum. Two other energy museums -- fossil<br>\nenergy and conventional energy -- are expected to be built in the<br>\narea.<\/p>\n<p>On the same occasion, the President also presented medals of<br>\nappreciation to six people involved in the development of the<br>\nmuseum. The six are Minister of National Development Planning<br>\n(former Minister of Mines and Energy) Ginandjar Kartasasmita,<br>\nI.B. Sudjana, former director general of electricity and new<br>\nenergy Artono Arismunandar, current director general of<br>\nelectricity and new energy Zuhal, president of state oil company<br>\nPertamina F. Abda&apos;oe and president of state electricity company<br>\nPLN Djiteng Marsudi.<\/p>\n<p>The First Lady also presented winning prizes to Hadi Supeno<br>\nfrom the Merdeka daily and a representative of the Medan-based<br>\nAnalisa daily for a writing competition on TMII.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, general manager of the park Sampurno said that he<br>\nwas pleased because society is starting to give more attention to<br>\nthe park&apos;s efforts to preserve, develop and introduce the<br>\ncultural values of the nation.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;The park will always listen and accept any opinion from the<br>\npeople,&quot; Sampurno said, adding that the park will someday be a<br>\nmonument for national culture.<\/p>\n<p>Previously on Wednesday, Sudjana handed over the electricity<br>\nand new energy museum to Madame Tien Soeharto, the chairperson of<br>\nHarapan Kita Foundation and the TMII Management and Development<br>\nBoard.<\/p>\n<p>Located near the Halim Perdanakusuma airport in East Jakarta,<br>\nthe park was built under the initiative of the First Lady and<br>\nopened on April 20, 1975.
