        "content": "<p>New foreign venture capital company starts operation<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): PT Malindo Ventura Nusantara, a new venture<br>\ncapital company partly controlled by Renong Nusantara Sdn. Bhd.<br>\nof Malaysia, began providing financial support for medium-size<br>\ncompanies yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>Malindo's start up was officially launched during a ceremony<br>\nat the Jakarta Hilton Convention Center.<\/p>\n<p>\"We are the 15th capital company to operate in Indonesia to<br>\nsupport medium-size companies in terms of finance,\" the company's<br>\nexecutive director, Sudaryanto Sudargo, said.<\/p>\n<p>A venture capital company is an institution which provides<br>\nfinancial assistance through an equity participation scheme.<br>\nBased on an Indonesian government ruling, the participation is<br>\nlimited to a 10-year period of cooperation, during which the<br>\nventure capital firm should be in a position to divest its shares<br>\nto the clients.<\/p>\n<p>\"Malindo Ventura plans to increase equity participation by up<br>\nto 49 percent of the total capital owned by clients,\" Sudaryanto<br>\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>The company has also set a ceiling of funds needed by its<br>\nclients at between Rp 10 million and Rp 20 million, he added.<\/p>\n<p>\"The main targets of our investments are medium-scale clients<br>\nwhich are export oriented,\" he said.<\/p>\n<p>\"And those which are eligible for our funding scheme should be<br>\ncompanies which are not listed on the capital market,\" he said.<\/p>\n<p>According to Sudaryanto, the establishment of Malindo Ventura<br>\nis based on a bilateral commitment between Minister of Finance<br>\nMar'ie Muhammad and Malaysia's Deputy Prime Minister Anwar<br>\nIbrahim during their July 2 meeting in Malaysia.<\/p>\n<p>As a follow up of their commitment, both governments agreed to<br>\nestablish Malindo Ventura, which was 50 percent owned by Renong<br>\nNusantara, 43 percent by the state-owned Bank Rakyat Indonesia<br>\n(BRI) and the remaining seven percent by Pension Fund foundation,<br>\nPT Sarinah Pasar Raya, PT Nugraha Santana and investing<br>\nindividuals.
