New designs, colors offered to brides<\/p>\n

Some brides might prefer off-the-shoulder gowns with layers,
\nwhile others may choose those with halters or V-necks or payets
\nto cast a spell over their wedding reception.<\/p>\n
There was plenty of choices for would-be brides at the Wedding
\nInspiration II bridal exhibition in the Diamond Ballroom of the
\nNikko Hotel recently, with the gowns on show expected to become
\nthe trends for the next four or five years.<\/p>\n
Acclaimed designer Tina Andrean prepared at least 30 colorful
\ngowns to choose from in her exhibition titled \"The Beauty Of
\nRomance\". Tulle gowns were presented in pink, blue, peach,
\npurple, gray and green.<\/p>\n
Halter necklines, bustiers, crisscrosses, empire cuts, the
\nnarrow A-line and semi-straight designs were some of the many
\nfeatures and each gown cost from Rp 10 million (US$980) to Rp 50
\nmillion or more.<\/p>\n
\"These are the gowns every bride dreams of. Some of them have
\nalready been bought by brides (to be) and will be worn next
\nmonth,\" Tina said before the bridal show.<\/p>\n
She said her exhibition was inspired by the dresses worn by
\nwomen in Greece from the 18th century.<\/p>\n
The show showcased typical white ball gowns with embroidery
\nand also simple affairs in peppermint green or lavender.<\/p>\n
\"Although I am offering the peppermint green and lavender
\ngowns, I believe the brides still like the classic white,\" she
\nsaid.<\/p>\n
Tina was right.<\/p>\n
During the bridal show about 300 guests -- many of them well-
\nheeled young women -- watched the show attentively, often
\nwhispering to their fiancees or associates, commenting on the
\nlovely couture.<\/p>\n
Attendees also included dignitaries such as former education
\nminister Wardiman Djojonegoro, designer Poppy Darsono, educator
\nMien Uno and actress Ira Wibowo and her husband pop-singer Katon
\nBagaskara.<\/p>\n
Ira, one of Tina's customers, wore a gown designed by Tina for
\nher wedding in October 1996.<\/p>\n
\"I like Tina's designs very much. They are terrific,\" Ira said
\nbefore the show.<\/p>\n
Combined with exquisite decoration, delicious food and an
\nexcellent choral performance, the second installment of this
\nbridal show; the first was held in May at the Four Seasons Hotel;
\nlooked like a real wedding reception -- only without the
\nbridegroom.<\/p>\n
To add to the ambiance, a 300-meter long red carpet was
\nunrolled from the hotel entrance to the ballroom, while walls in
\nthe foyer were covered in white cloth.<\/p>\n
Inside the ballroom the main color was red, with a catwalk
\nerected at the front. Moving colorful lights helped create some
\nbreathtaking visual effects during the show.<\/p>\n
Former minister Wardiman said shortly before the show that a
\nwedding reception should present beauty.<\/p>\n
\"The beauty (of a wedding reception) should come from the
\ndecorations, the food and the gown of the bride,\" he said.<\/p>",
