        "content": "<p>The West Java Regional Police (Polda Jabar) have provided the latest\nupdate on the handling of the abuse and confinement case against a woman\nwith the initials YTR (29), allegedly perpetrated by Taufik Hidayat (30)\nover three years, resulting in the victim sustaining permanent\ndisabilities. Polda Jabar Head of Public Relations, Commissioner Hendra\nRochmawan, stated that the suspect\u2019s case file has been declared\ncomplete. However, investigators are still conducting further inquiries\nby examining two additional witnesses to strengthen the evidence before\nthe file is handed over to prosecutors. \u201cThe legal construction we have\napplied to Taufik Hidayat is already quite extensive, covering abuse,\nconfinement, and sexual violence. This is the legal construction we have\napplied and are reinforcing with the elements of the articles,\u201d Hendra\nsaid, as quoted on Monday, 20 July 2026. To date, investigators have\ntaken statements from 31 witnesses. Once the additional examinations are\ncompleted, the case file will be immediately submitted to the Public\nProsecutor. Hendra also conveyed that YTR\u2019s condition continues to show\npositive progress. The West Java Police are currently awaiting\nrecommendations from Hasan Sadikin Hospital in Bandung regarding further\nmedical treatment for the victim. \u201cFor the victim, thank God she is\nimproving, and we are waiting for a response from Hasan Sadikin Hospital\non whether medical procedures can be performed for her health,\nespecially for the recovery of her lips and teeth. Please pray that the\ninvestigation and the legal process can be expedited,\u201d he said.\nPreviously, the victim\u2019s brother, Afif Shandy, said his sister\u2019s\ncondition was steadily improving. According to him, the victim can now\ncommunicate, sit, and walk. \u201cAlhamdulillah, she can now communicate well\nand perform various movements, such as sitting and walking properly,\u201d\nAfif said. He added that YTR still needs to undergo a recovery period\nand several follow-up surgeries. The family is also limiting the number\nof visitors to ensure the healing process proceeds optimally. \u201cOur\nparents take turns waiting at the hospital. Not many people are allowed\nto visit now so that the healing process can be quick,\u201d he said. Afif\nhopes the legal process against the perpetrator runs smoothly and that\nhe receives the maximum sentence. \u201cHopefully the trial process will be\nsmooth and the perpetrator receives the maximum punishment,\u201d he said. In\nthis case, Taufik is charged under Article 451 on hostage-taking,\nArticle 469 paragraph (1) on premeditated grievous bodily harm, and\nArticle 6 of Law Number 12 of 2022 on Sexual Violence Crimes, based on\nthe post-mortem report and statements from expert witnesses and the\nvictim.<\/p>",
