        "content": "<p>Founder of the KedaiKOPI survey institute, Hendri Satrio, launched\nhis latest book titled \u2018Estafet Ideologi Sumitro ke Prabowo\u2019 (The\nIdeological Relay from Sumitro to Prabowo) at Paramadina University,\nJakarta, on Wednesday. The book explores the continuity of economic\nthought from the late economist Sumitro Djojohadikusumo, which is seen\nas being translated and implemented by President Prabowo Subianto\nthrough various development policies.<\/p>\n<p>Hendri Satrio, familiarly known as Hensa, said the book was written\nto understand how Sumitro\u2019s ideas evolved and are being translated in\nthe context of Prabowo\u2019s current administration. \u2018I wrote this book to\ntry to understand how Sumitro\u2019s thinking in his time is translated by Mr\nPrabowo today, and to see the extent of continuity and differences,\u2019\nHensa said at the book launch.<\/p>\n<p>The political communication analyst explained that the term \u2018estafet\u2019\n(relay) in the title does not mean Sumitro directly bequeathed his ideas\nto Prabowo. Rather, the relay is interpreted as Prabowo\u2019s effort to\nadopt and continue Sumitro\u2019s thoughts to achieve public welfare. The\nbook uses a public communication approach to depict the flow of\nSumitro\u2019s thinking, which is seen as reflected in a number of Prabowo\u2019s\ngovernment policies.<\/p>\n<p>The book launch was attended by several national figures, including\nMinister of Cooperatives Ferry Juliantono, Chairman of House Commission\nXI Mukhamad Misbakhun, and Head of the Poverty Alleviation Acceleration\nAgency Budiman Sudjatmiko. Several academics and economists were also\npresent as discussants.<\/p>\n<p>Ferry Juliantono found the book interesting because it raises the\ntheme of ideology, which is currently relatively rare in public\ndiscourse. \u2018It is rare to find a book that discusses ideology.\nTherefore, I appreciate Mr Hendri Satrio\u2019s courage in raising a theme\nthat is now seldom part of public discourse,\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Misbakhun assessed that the book attempts to document\nSumitro\u2019s economic thinking, which is oriented towards a people\u2019s\neconomy, and its implementation in the context of current national\ndevelopment. According to him, the book also reviews how economic ideas\nbased on Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution are translated into various\ndevelopment policies.<\/p>\n<p>Budiman Sudjatmiko viewed the theme of ideological relay as an effort\nto maintain belief in values considered correct while ensuring these\nvalues are implemented in the right way.<\/p>",
