New academic
\ndegree for Hendro<\/p>\n
Jakarta Military Commander Maj. Gen. Hendroprijono received a
\nlaw degree from a military college late last week, bringing to
\ntwo the university degrees the two-star general has achieved this
\nyear.<\/p>\n
Hendro, as the general is popularly known, received a law
\ndegree from the Military Law College in Jakarta with a cum laude
\nstatus, after successfully defending his dissertation entitled
\nAdditional Requirements for Political Prisoners.<\/p>\n
Hendro discussed in length in his 120-page dissertation the
\nlegal basis for political prisoners to work on a sort of
\ndissertation before their release from imprisonment.<\/p>\n
A Jakarta based daily said Hendro spent 3.5 years at the
\ncollege in the midst of his daily duties of keeping the city in
\norder.<\/p>\n
The general also received an MBA degree from the University of
\nthe city of Manila, the Philippines on April 14. He reportedly
\nstudied for one-and-a-half years through a correspondence program
\nbefore earning the degree.<\/p>\n
Hendro, viewed as one of the rising stars in the Army, had
\nearlier obtained an S-1 degree on administration from the STIA-
\nLAN administration academy, and the Fort Leavenworth Army Academy

U.S. saxophonist
\nto perform here<\/p>\n
Dave Koz, a popular saxophonist from California, the United
\nStates, is scheduled to perform here for five days starting
\ntoday.<\/p>\n
Tonight's presentation will be at the Jakarta Hilton
\nConvention Center on Jl. Gatot Subroto, Central Jakarta, at 8
\np.m., while the following shows will be at the Jamz Pub on Jl.
\nPanglima Polim Raya, South Jakarta.<\/p>\n
Those visiting the Jamz Pub will have the option of early and
\nlate shows, from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. and from 10:30 p.m. to 12:30
\na.m.<\/p>\n
The musician is known for his ability to mix jazz and pop
\nelements.<\/p>\n
Promoter Eri Prabowo says his shows are expected to increase
\nthe appreciation of jazz here.<\/p>\n
Dave Koz's albums include Castle of Dreams and Lucky Man.

Voucher system
\nintroduced<\/p>\n
The voucher system, applied to payments for transporting
\ncontainers, has a positive impact, Herry Y.C. Rotty, the chief of
\nthe special unit for transportation at the Tanjung Priok port of
\nOrganda DKI (The City Land Transportation Organization), said
\nhere over the weekend.<\/p>\n
The new system, introduced last Monday, makes it impossible
\nfor users of container transportation services to delay making
\npayments, Herry said.<\/p>\n
Under the system, users are required to get vouchers from the
\nstate-owned Bank Bukopin, otherwise they will not be served,
\nHerry said.<\/p>\n
Under the new system, drivers of container trucks will still
\nreceive 'pocket money' amounting to 20 to 30 percent of
\ntransportation fees from the transportation companies, Herry
\nsaid, adding that cash payments are not known under the voucher
\nsystem.<\/p>\n
Upwards of 1,000 containers have thus far been transported
