        "content": "<p>An Israeli court postponed the criminal trial that was due to feature\nPrime Minister (PM) Benjamin Netanyahu as a witness on Monday (20\/4)\nlocal time. The postponement of the hearing was based on\n\u201csecurity-diplomatic\u201d reasons.<\/p>\n<p>This postponement, as reported by Anadolu Agency on Monday\n(20\/4\/2026), was covered by The Jerusalem Post in its report on Sunday\n(19\/4) evening local time.<\/p>\n<p>Judges at the Jerusalem District Court decided on Sunday (19\/4) local\ntime to hear other mitigating witnesses, thereby delaying Netanyahu\u2019s\nreturn to the witness stand in court.<\/p>\n<p>With this postponement, according to The Jerusalem Post report, the\ntrial session with Netanyahu\u2019s testimony as a witness is unlikely to\ntake place before next week.<\/p>\n<p>The decision to postpone the trial followed a request from the\ndefence team to cancel Netanyahu\u2019s testimony, based on\n\u201csecurity-diplomatic\u201d reasons that were not specified but outlined in\nclosed materials submitted to the court and the public prosecutor.<\/p>\n<p>The prosecutors opposed the postponement.
