Netanyahu is determined\nthat Iran should not possess nuclear weapons.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday we heard the commander of Iran\u2019s Islamic Revolutionary Guard\nCorps, Ahmad Vahidi, state that Iran intends to continue developing\nnuclear weapons,\u201d Netanyahu said, as reported by Anadolu Agency on\nThursday (6\/8\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>Netanyahu declared he would not allow Iran to have nuclear weapons,\nreferring to the US as Israel\u2019s greatest ally.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs Prime Minister of Israel, I am determined to prevent Iran from\nobtaining nuclear weapons,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>It was previously reported that Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman\nMajed Al-Ansari said mediation efforts between the US and Iran had\nreached an advanced stage. He stated that both parties had exchanged\ndraft proposals.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at a weekly ministry press conference, Al-Ansari said\nefforts were continuing with all parties to reach a diplomatic\nsolution.<\/p>\n<p>On 28 February, the US and Israel launched a war against Iran which,\naccording to Iranian authorities, killed more than 3,000 people. Iran\nresponded with attacks on countries in the region that host US\nassets.<\/p>\n<p>In June, Qatar joined Pakistan as part of a mediation team between\nWashington and Tehran, which led to the signing of a memorandum of\nunderstanding on 18 June and the start of negotiations towards a final\nagreement.<\/p>\n<p>The talks subsequently stalled due to differences over maritime\nsecurity and freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.<\/p>\n<p>Between 8 July and 24 July, tensions escalated again when the US\ncarried out strikes on Iran, prompting Tehran to target what it\ndescribed as US military facilities and equipment in several Arab\ncountries, notably Jordan, Bahrain, and Kuwait.<\/p>",
