Nepal\u2019s National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, as\nreported by AFP and Anadolu Agency on Wednesday (2\/9\/2026), reported\nthat at least 1,114 bodies have been found within its territory as of\nWednesday morning local time. Another 3,916 people are reported to be\nmissing, while 292 others have sustained injuries in the Nepal\nregion.<\/p>\n
Separately, Chinese state media reported that the death toll in the\nTibet region has increased to at least 16 people. A total of 546 others\nare reported missing in Tibet, including 261 foreign nationals.<\/p>\n
With these additional deaths, the total number of fatalities\nresulting from the devastating flash floods that ravaged the Nepal-Tibet\nborder region on 26 August has reached at least 1,130. The total number\nof missing persons across both regions has now reached 4,462.<\/p>\n
In a statement, Nepalese authorities added that approximately 12,000\npeople have been rescued from the areas affected by the flash floods.\nMore than 21,000 security personnel, including members of the military\nand police, have been deployed to assist in the ongoing search and\nrescue operations. These rescue efforts have faced obstacles due to\ncontinuous rainfall and the threat of subsequent flooding.<\/p>\n
