        "content": "<p>NEC, NTT enter Vietnam<\/p>\n<p>TOKYO (AFP): Japan's Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corp.<br>\n(NTT) and NEC Corp. and Hong Kong's PHS International Ltd., will<br>\nlaunch trials of the personal handyphone system (PHS) in Vietnam<br>\nstarting Tuesday, company officials said.<\/p>\n<p>The two Japanese companies and the Hong Kong-based joint<br>\nventure aim to introduce PHS to the Vietnamese market, which had<br>\nabout 53,000 registered cellular telephone subscribers as of<br>\nOctober, the officials said.<\/p>\n<p>NTT is Japan's telecommunications giant and NEC a major<br>\nelectronics maker. PHS International was formed jointly by NTT,<br>\nCable and Wireless plc of Britain, Hongkong Telecommunications<br>\nLtd. and Japanese trading house Itochu Corp., to promote PHS in<br>\nAsia.<\/p>\n<p>The group will cooperate with Hanoi Posts and<br>\nTelecommunications, an affiliate of Vietnam Posts and<br>\nTelecommunications, the officials said.<\/p>",
