        "content": "<p>NEC, Intel agree to tie up<\/p>\n<p>TOKYO (AFP): Japan's NEC Corp. said Wednesday it has agreed a<br>\nbusiness tie-up with its rival Intel Corp. to develop their<br>\nInternet businesses.<\/p>\n<p>NEC's Biglobe Internet service would be linked with the US<br>\nfirm's venture Intel Online Services Inc., which provides<br>\nbusiness transactions across the Internet.<\/p>\n<p>Intel Online plans to build an Internet service center with<br>\nNEC in Japan to start operating early next year. The US firm<br>\nalready has two service centers for Intel Online, both in<br>\nCalifornia.<\/p>\n<p>NEC, the world's second biggest semiconductor maker after<br>\nIntel, said it wants to have more than 10 million Internet<br>\nsubscribers by 2002.<\/p>\n<p>The Japanese firm is in the middle of a major restructuring<br>\neffort under which it said it will focus its energies on the<br>\nInternet.<\/p>",
