Nearly 1,000 bottles of liquor seized<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Police and public order officials seized nearly
\n1,000 bottles of liquor from shops, drink stalls and street
\nvendors located close to high schools in a month-long operation
\nin July, an official said.<\/p>\n
\"The liquor bottles, with alcohol content up to 40 percent,
\nwere seized from shops and stalls located within 200 meters from
\nschools,\" Toha Reno, head of public facility unit at the city
\npublic order office, said on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
\"None of the vendors were detained, but only the merchandise
\nwas seized,\" he said.<\/p>\n
He said the confiscated liquor included locally made vodka,
\nwhisky and wine.<\/p>\n
The July operation was conducted at 32 junior and senior high
\nschools across Jakarta, he said.<\/p>\n
The operation covered Jl. Budi Utomo, Jl. Garuda Kemayoran,
\nJl. Raya Senen, Jl. Suprapto, Jl. Batu Gambir, Jl. Mangga Besar,
\nand Jl. Diponegoro in Central Jakarta.<\/p>\n
It also covered Jl. Perintis Kemerdekaan, Jl. Alur Laut
\nPlumpang, Jl. Cilincing and Jl. Sunter Raya in North Jakarta.<\/p>\n
In South Jakarta, the police swept Jl. Raya Tirtayasa, Jl.
\nManggarai Selatan, Jl. Ragunan and Jl. Tebet.<\/p>\n
In West Jakarta, Jl. Mandala Utara Tomang and Jl. Kebon Jeruk,
\nwhile in East Jakarta, Jl. Sudirman Cijantung, Jl. Pemuda, Jl.
\nCililitan, Jl. Dewi Sartika and Jl. Raya Bogor were searched.<\/p>\n
He said the police also confiscated several sharp weapons
\nduring the operation.<\/p>\n
\"The weapons were either used by the vendors for self defense
