Navy's training ship returns<\/p>\n
JAKARTA: After sailing around the globe for more than a year,
\nthe Indonesian Navy's training ship KRI Arung Samudra is
\nscheduled to arrive home on May 4.<\/p>\n
The tall ship will be moored at the Tanjung Priok port, Col.
\nMualimin Santoso of the Indonesian Navy's Information Office was
\nquoted by Antara as saying Saturday.<\/p>\n
The ship was scheduled to leave Hong Kong and head for
\nSingapore over the weekend.<\/p>\n
Santoso said the ship will be escorted by several warships and
\nplanes when it enters Indonesian waters until it docks at Tanjung
\nUban port in Riau.<\/p>\n
"From Tanjung Uban, Arung Samudra will be escorted by a
\nflotilla of Pinisi boats, other traditional vessels and jet skis
\nto Tanjung Priok," he said.<\/p>\n
Navy Chief of Staff Vice Admiral Arief Kushariadi will lead
\nthe welcoming ceremony in which the ship's 16-member crew will
\nreceive special Wira Karya medals from President Soeharto.<\/p>\n
The ship left on its world trip on April 14 last year.<\/p>\n
Skippered by Major Darwanto, KRI Arsa has visited Australia,
\nSeychelles, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Italy, Spain, France,
\nMorocco, Caribbean islands, Panama, Mexico, Hawaii, and Japan.
