Pontianak (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Navy\u2019s XII Regional Command\n(Kodaeral XII) has secured approximately 24.6 million sticks of\ncigarettes transported via four trucks at Dwikora Port, Pontianak, West\nKalimantan, for inspection regarding suspected violations of excise\nregulations.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Kodaeral XII Quick Response Team successfully secured five\ntrucks suspected of carrying cigarettes without excise stamps at Dwikora\nPort, Pontianak,\u201d stated the Commander of Kodaeral XII, Rear Admiral TNI\nSawa, in Pontianak on Monday.<\/p>\n
Sawa noted that the enforcement action was carried out by the\nKodaeral XII Quick Response Team on Saturday (12\/9) following\nintelligence regarding a cigarette shipment from Tanjung Emas Port,\nSemarang.<\/p>\n
This information was received by Kodaeral XII on Friday (11\/9) at\napproximately 20:00 WIB. The cargo was transported using the Dharma\nKartika VII vessel from Tanjung Emas Port to Dwikora Port,\nPontianak.<\/p>\n
Upon the ship\u2019s arrival, the team discovered five trucks at\napproximately 01:00 WIB on Saturday (12\/9) and detained them, along with\nthe drivers, at the Kodaeral XII Patrol Unit Command Headquarters for\nfurther investigation.<\/p>\n
From the initial inspection, officers found 23.681 million sticks of\nEsse, Win, Bheta, Helium, Trend, and Gudang Cengkeh brand cigarettes, as\nwell as one million sticks of Tabaco brand cigarettes intended for\nexport, which are suspected of lacking excise stamps.<\/p>\n
Consequently, the total number of cigarettes found during the initial\ninspection reached approximately 23.681 million sticks.<\/p>\n
Kodaeral XII, alongside Civil Servant Investigators (PPNS) from West\nKalimantan Customs, will conduct a recount to verify the quantity of\ngoods and separate cigarettes with valid excise stamps from those\nsuspected of violating excise regulations.<\/p>\n
Sawa stated that the potential value of state losses from this\ndiscovery cannot yet be confirmed, as they are awaiting calculations\nfrom the West Kalimantan Customs PPNS.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe drivers and the expedition service providers can currently be\ntreated as witnesses. We have not yet identified the owner of the\ncargo,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Kodaeral XII will subsequently hand over the evidence to the West\nKalimantan Customs PPNS for further legal proceedings once the counting\nand inspection are complete.<\/p>\n
The suspected violation refers to Article 54 of Law Number 39 of\n2007, concerning the Amendment to Law Number 11 of 1995 regarding\nExcise.<\/p>\n
