        "content": "<p>Bangkalan (ANTARA) - The SFQR (Second Fleet Quick Response) team of\nthe Batuporon Naval Base in Bangkalan, East Java, has handed over\nhundreds of packs of illegal cigarettes seized during an operation on\nthe Suramadu Bridge access road to the Madura Customs Office.<\/p>\n<p>The Commander of the Batuporon Naval Base, Letkol Laut Ari Wibowo,\nstated in Bangkalan on Friday that the operation, conducted on the\nSuramadu access road leading from Madura to Surabaya, was an effort to\ncreate a conducive situation, given the numerous incidents that had been\ndisturbing residents.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDuring the operation, we found a vehicle transporting illegal\ncigarettes crossing the Suramadu Bridge,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Ari explained that 311 packs of cigarettes without excise stamps were\nconfiscated, and 18 people, consisting of 14 men and four women, were\nalso apprehended.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to seizing the illegal cigarettes, officers also secured\n15 vehicles, including private cars, delivery vans, minibuses, and\ntrucks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday, all the evidence from the operation on the Suramadu Bridge\naccess road has been handed over to the Madura Customs Office to be\nprocessed in accordance with applicable regulations,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Commander of the Naval Base, Letkol Laut Ari Wibowo,\nbased on the drivers\u2019 confessions, the illegal cigarettes were intended\nfor distribution to several regions in East Java and beyond, including\nSurabaya, Gresik, Pasuruan, Mojokerto, Central Java, and West Java.<\/p>\n<p>Separately, Hendra Asmara, an officer from the Madura Customs Office,\nconfirmed the handover of the evidence, consisting of hundreds of packs\nof illegal cigarettes seized during the Batuporon Naval Base operation\nin Bangkalan.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCurrently, we are processing the results of the operation, and we\nare very grateful to the Naval Base for helping to limit the circulation\nof illegal cigarettes on Madura Island,\u201d he said.<\/p>",
