Natuna (ANTARA) - The Natuna Youth Forum (FAN) of Natuna Regency,
Riau Islands Province, fully supports the Government Regulation on Child
Governance and Protection in the Digital Space (PP Tunas), as it is
deemed capable of protecting children from the dangers of the online
world.

FAN Chairman Muhammad Raffi Alfitra, when contacted from Natuna on
Sunday, expressed his delight at the issuance of the policy.

He assessed that PP Tunas serves as evidence of the state’s
seriousness in guaranteeing children’s rights to protection in the
digital space, which is increasingly generating negative impacts, such
as pornography, cybercrimes like cyberbullying, sexual harassment, and
online fraud.

However, he continued, restrictions on social media account ownership
must also be balanced with solutions or alternatives that favour
children. This is because the digital space is also needed by children
to access positive information.

Therefore, Raffi suggested that the government create a safe and
child-friendly digital space for them.

The safe digital space in question consists of platforms containing
information suitable for children, in line with their stages of growth
and development, so that they become a generation ready to compete and
advance the nation in the future.

In addition, the government also needs to increase programmes and
activities for children as a forum for children to create, so that their
time can be utilised for positive activities, one of which is honing
skills.

Besides the government, parents must also play a role to ensure the
regulation is effectively implemented. Parents, he said, are the
frontline in supervising and educating children in the digital
space.

According to him, parents must regulate gadget usage time, monitor
the content consumed by children, and build dialogues about internet
safety, so that the rules do not become mere formalities.

“It cannot be denied that time continues to move forward and we, the
children, will become leaders in the future. We must be responsive and
understand technology. Therefore, I hope the government offers other
alternatives through child platforms, perhaps like YouTube Kids, TikTok
Kids, and so on,” he stated.
",
