Banjarmasin, (ANTARA News) - The national policy on electricity state electricty company PT PLN has been implementing, needed to be reviewed especially in the use of energy resources, a legislator said.<\/p>\n
He said the policy needs to be reviewed because it was inappropriate, especially if linked to current condition of the country which is now facing an energy crisis, a member of the House of Representatives (DPR) representing the National Mandate Party (PAN) Drs Zulkifli Halim, said on Sunday.<\/p>\n
He recommended that it was much better to use the potentials of the existing energy in the regions in a bid to meet the need for power plants.<\/p>\n
For example, power plants on Java island should not only depend on or hope for new supply of coal from Kalimantan as what the coal-fired power plant PLTU Suralaya in West Java has done. Because adverse weather, coal supplies was delayed, which in turn cause power shortfalls.<\/p>\n
\"It is much better to build coal-fired power plants in Java and Sumatra. It is a waste if the potentials of coal-fired power plants are left unexploited. If they could be used optimally, Java will never have blackouts,\" he said.<\/p>\n
Natural resources like coal which is quite prospective and abundant in Kalimantan could be used to run PLTUs in South Kalimantan, and PLTU Asam-Asam in Tanah Laut district, Banjarmasin, he said in a public discussion on minerals and coal.<\/p>\n
