NATO strikes seen as drama<\/p>\n
KUALA LUMPUR (Reuter): Malaysia's Prime Minister Mahathir
\nMohamad on Saturday described the latest air strikes by the North
\nAtlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) on Bosnian Serb positions as
\na mere Western drama.<\/p>\n
Mahathir was quoted by the national Bernama news agency as
\nsaying that he did not believe that NATO would continue the air
\nattacks as it feared Serb forces might surround the peacekeeping
\nforces of member states in Bosnia.<\/p>\n
Serb troops have already taken scores of peacekeepers hostage
\nas human shields against more air strikes.<\/p>\n
Mahathir felt that NATO would bow to Serbs' demands as it was
\nnot serious and feared that it would become involved directly in
\nthe war.<\/p>\n
He said that although Malaysia did not agree with the UN
\nmethods, it had to abide by the world body's directives. He said
\nhe would try to influence the UN but felt the world body would
\nnot listen to Malaysia.<\/p>",
