        "content": "<p>National Police separating the wheat from the chaff<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): The National Police announced on Monday a<br>\nreshuffle of 25 high-ranking officers and 10 middle-ranking<br>\nofficers.<\/p>\n<p>The shake up includes several notable figures in the police<br>\nincluding Insp. Gen. Adang Daradjatun, who is allegedly involved<br>\nin a corruption case involving the Rp 300.77 billion National<br>\nPolice 1999-2000 Crash Funding Program.<\/p>\n<p>Adang, previously posted as the West Java Police chief, was<br>\ngiven a no-job position in the reshuffle by naming him as a<br>\nsenior officer at the National Police Headquarters.<\/p>\n<p>National Police spokesman Brig. Gen. Dadang Garnida admitted<br>\nthat Adang was removed from his previous position to make it<br>\neasier for investigators to investigate his involvement in the<br>\ncorruption case.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;But if it&apos;s found out later that he is innocent, his name<br>\nshould be rehabilitated,&quot; Dadang told reporters at his office,<br>\nadding that the police had acted on public demands to make police<br>\nfree from corruption, collusion, and nepotism.<\/p>\n<p>The police are investigating the roles of three police<br>\ngenerals in the alleged mismanagement of the fund which caused<br>\nthe state to suffer losses of at least Rp 5.2 billion.<\/p>\n<p>The three generals are former National Police chief Gen.<br>\nRoesmanhadi, his former assistant for planning Maj. Gen. Adang<br>\nDaradjatun, and chief of the treasury agency Brig. Gen. Darmadji<br>\nS.W.<\/p>\n<p>Among police officers who were touched by the reshuffle are<br>\nInsp. Gen. Noegroho Djajoesman, who was previously posted as head<br>\nof National Police Staff and Leaders School.<\/p>\n<p>Noegroho also was assigned as a senior officer at the National<br>\nPolice Headquarters.<\/p>\n<p>However, Dadang said that empowerment of a police officer<br>\ncould be carried out in any post.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;Every officer should be ready to be posted anywhere,&quot; Dadang<br>\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>Former head of coordinators of crime investigators at the<br>\nNational Police, Chaeruddin Ismail, was named to replace<br>\nNoegroho.<\/p>\n<p>Dadang said that overall, the reshuffle had been conducted to<br>\nincrease the performance of the police.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;This decision has been planned for quite a long time,&quot; he<br>\nsaid.
