The National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, affirmed\nthat the Police are a partner and friend to the community. General Sigit\nreiterated the Police\u2019s commitment to providing the best possible\nservice to the community.<\/p>\n
This was conveyed by General Sigit at an iftar event with a number of\ncommunity organizations (ormas), youth organizations (OKP), and students\nat the Mutiara Auditorium of the STIK\/PTIK Polri, South Jakarta, on\nThursday (26\/2). General Sigit explained that the Police and the\ncommunity are both products of the reform era.<\/p>\n
\u201cTherefore, we can all understand that the Police and civil society\nare both products of the reform era, and also the result of the nation\u2019s\ndemocratic struggle, which has a moral responsibility to guide the\nnation\u2019s progress,\u201d said General Sigit in his speech on Thursday\n(26\/2\/2026).<\/p>\n
General Sigit said that after the 1998 reforms, the space for public\nparticipation has become more open. Community organizations and students\nhave emerged as pillars to uphold democratic values.<\/p>\n
The Police, said General Sigit, have been entrusted with the task of\ncarrying out security functions to ensure the stability of the nation.\nGeneral Sigit said that the Police will always provide protection and\nsecurity for the community and maintain public order.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe relationship between the Police and civil society is equal and\nmust always be built on mutual respect. Therefore, I urge you to make\nthe Police a partner and friend of the community,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
General Sigit invited all parties to work together to safeguard the\ndemocratic process. General Sigit urged all levels of the Police to open\nup space to facilitate public aspirations.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have also asked all levels of the Police to truly facilitate the\naspirations that are conveyed, so that these aspirations can be\ndelivered. The Police are ready to be a facilitator and mediator so that\nall processes can run safely, smoothly, and orderly. The Police are\ncurrently changing their paradigm, from maintaining order to providing\nservices,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, General Sigit urged all parties to protect the\ndemocratic space, so that it is not infiltrated by certain parties. He\nemphasized that unity is the key to realizing the Golden Indonesia\n2045.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat will happen is chaos, which can endanger lives, public safety,\nand other public facilities. And of course, this can also have an impact\non disrupting public order,\u201d said General Sigit.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf we do not take care of it properly, this will also have an impact\non economic stability. And if it continues and is not controlled, this\nwill lead to division in the nation, decline in the economy, decline in\nthe social, cultural, and defense sectors, which will of course harm all\nof society, the nation, and the state,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
