National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has affirmed the
Indonesian National Police’s commitment to drawing closer to the
community. He made the statement during a joint sports session at the
Car Free Day with the Indonesian National Armed Forces, ministries,
agencies, and the public at the Horse Statue area in Monas, Central
Jakarta, on Sunday, 28 June 2026. Following the Car Free Day event with
Jakarta residents, General Sigit proceeded to open the Police Sports
Week at the Metro Jaya Regional Police. These two agendas are part of a
series of processions leading up to the 80th Bhayangkara Day on 1 July
2026, as well as an effort to accompany citizens with warmth. “Today’s
activities also open up space for the public to participate. We have
approximately twelve stages that the community can use to take part in
various activities that have been prepared, including different types of
sports,” the Police Chief said at the Metro Jaya Regional Police. During
the Car Free Day, the police also conducted health and social service
activities for the wider community. Meanwhile, at the 2026 Police Sports
Week, eight types of competitions are being held through the Kapolri
Cup. Sigit expressed hope that the Kapolri Cup could also produce
outstanding athletes capable of participating in and achieving success
at both national and international events. “A large number of athletes
who have previously competed and achieved results in international
championships are also involved. This makes it an arena to maintain
their stamina and achievements before they are truly fielded or compete
in events prepared by international organisations,” Sigit stated. Most
importantly, Sigit said, this entire series of activities represents the
police’s effort to get closer to the Indonesian people, so that the
institution can be one that is hoped for and loved in the future.
Furthermore, it is hoped that the synergy between the police and all
levels of society will be strengthened. “Clearly, today’s joint sports
activity at the Car Free Day is part of the police’s effort to continue
standing together with the community as we approach the 80th Bhayangkara
Day. I think that is it,” Sigit concluded.
",
