        "content": "<p>National Development Planning Minister\/Head of the National\nDevelopment Planning Agency (Bappenas) Rachmat Pambudy has said\nblockchain needs to be positioned as part of a digital transformation\nthat delivers tangible impact for national development.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBlockchain has significant room for growth when used to address real\nneeds, namely improving efficiency, transparency, traceability,\nintegrity and trust. The government will continue to encourage\ninnovation, but on the principle that technology must follow development\nneeds, comply with governance, and serve the broader public interest,\u201d\nhe said at the Indonesia Digital Blockchain Week 2026, according to an\nofficial statement released in Jakarta on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>On that occasion, he recounted the experience of a coffee farmer who\nsuccessfully developed a traceability system and went on to build a\nblockchain-based platform. The system allows consumers in various\ncountries to communicate directly with farmers in Indonesia.<\/p>\n<p>That experience, he said, demonstrates that blockchain can connect\ndevelopment actors from the village level to international markets.<\/p>\n<p>In the development context, blockchain can be applied within the\nnational development planning framework to support the digital economy,\ndigital government, and more transparent and integrated data governance.\nUnder the 2025\u20132029 National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN),\ndigital transformation is supported by three pillars: digital society,\ndigital infrastructure, and digital government.<\/p>\n<p>The government is also encouraging investment in new technologies,\ndata integration, and research and innovation to ensure digital\ntransformation contributes to quality economic growth.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe digital economy\u2019s contribution to GDP (Gross Domestic Product)\nis targeted to reach 12\u201313 percent by 2029,\u201d Rachmat said.<\/p>",
