Deputy Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Agustina\nArumsari, stated that the agency prohibits BGN employees from owning a\nNutrition Fulfilment Service Unit (SPPG). This was emphasised by\nAgustina on the grounds of avoiding conflicts of interest. \u201cThe main\nthing is that BGN employees, as decision-makers and policy-makers, are\nnot allowed to own SPPGs. Why? Because they make policies, which then\nresulted in a flat incentive of Rp6 million for SPPGs, changed from the\nprevious calculation of 2,000 multiplied by the number of beneficiaries,\nand kitchen specifications revised from 400 square metres to 100 square\nmetres, all due to various interests,\u201d Agustina said after a Hearing\nMeeting with Commission IX of the Indonesian House of Representatives at\nthe Parliament Complex in Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Monday, 15 June\n2026.<\/p>\n
Under the new policy to improve the governance of the Free Nutritious\nMeal (MBG) programme, Agustina explained that partners must not simply\nbuild kitchens to gain profit, but must return to the original intention\nof improving the nutritional quality of the nation\u2019s children. \u201cThere is\na distinction. Previously, the approach might have been \u2018just build\nkitchens, as many kitchens as possible\u2019. We do not want that. We are\nrefocusing on beneficiaries who are truly targeted according to\ngovernment nutritional interventions that genuinely require it, and then\nthe consequence will naturally be kitchens,\u201d she revealed.<\/p>\n
She mentioned that BGN will create a new index regarding which SPPGs\nmeet the established standard operating procedures and quality,\nprioritising the interests of beneficiaries. \u201cFor others, whether it is\nA, B, or C, the important thing is that the kitchen technically meets\nthe requirements and quality standards. We will later create a new\nindex; if they meet it, that is the point,\u201d she elaborated.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, Agustina explained that the government is currently\nfocusing on improving the governance of beneficiary targeting to ensure\nmeals reach recipients and the programme is run transparently. \u201cWe are\nnow talking about reform first. In 2026, the focus is on beneficiary\ntargets, then we will talk about kitchens.
