        "content": "<p>The Head of the National Library of Indonesia (Pername), E Aminudin\nAziz, stated that a proposal for a budget increase of Rp357.77 billion\nhas been submitted to Commission X of the House of Representatives (DPR\nRI) to strengthen literacy improvement programmes in Indonesia.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis budget reinforcement is necessary to ensure the sustainability\nof national priority programmes in the fields of libraries and literacy,\nincluding the transformation of libraries based on social inclusion, the\nstrengthening of digital services, the preservation of the nation\u2019s\ncultural heritage, and the improvement of library service quality\nthroughout Indonesia,\u201d he said in an official statement in Jakarta on\nThursday.<\/p>\n<p>Aminudin emphasised that the additional budget is expected to restore\nPerpusnas\u2019s funding capacity, enabling it to support various priority\nprogrammes, including the strengthening of library services and the\nenhancement of the public\u2019s literacy culture.<\/p>\n<p>Perpusnas is committed to optimising this budget support to expand\npublic access to knowledge sources, strengthen reading culture, and\nimprove community literacy skills as a foundation for Indonesia\u2019s human\nresource development.<\/p>\n<p>Commission X of the DPR RI also reaffirmed its support for Perpusnas\nas the spearhead for strengthening national literacy and as a guardian\nof Nusantara\u2019s civilisation, connecting the past, present, and future.\nCommission X views that the strengthening of Perpusnas must continue in\norder to expand public access to library services and knowledge\nsources.<\/p>\n<p>The Chairperson of Commission X, Hetifah Sjaifudian, assessed that\nthe indicative ceiling for the Perpusnas 2027 Fiscal Year, previously\nset at Rp367.73 billion, is highly inadequate to support the\nimplementation of programmes and the achievement of national literacy\nimprovement targets.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBudgetary policy reinforcement for Perpusnas RI is required.\nCommission X of the DPR RI provides collective support for a more\nsignificant budget increase,\u201d said Hetifah.<\/p>\n<p>Hetifah emphasised that the approval of this indicative ceiling will\nserve as a subject for further discussion during the preparation of the\n2027 Fiscal Year State Budget Draft (RAPBN) with the government.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, Commission X is also encouraging Perpusnas to prioritise\nthe strengthening of library services in underdeveloped, frontier, and\noutermost (3T) regions, reach marginalised groups, accelerate digital\ntransformation, and strengthen partnerships with regional and school\nlibraries.<\/p>",
