        "content": "<p>National integrity<\/p>\n<p>From Media Indonesia<\/p>\n<p>Political life in Indonesia today doesn't seem to be inspired <br>\nby the spirit of unity our founding fathers upheld 77 years ago. <br>\nThis spirit of unity could be related to the STOVIA movement of <br>\n(medical) students called Boedi Oetomo, which was considered <br>\npioneer of the national awakening.<\/p>\n<p>Today the government officials at all levels seem to have lost <br>\ntheir sense of integrity. We do not know why. What is evident <br>\ntoday is the fact that disintegration is strengthening.<\/p>\n<p>We should look to the past experience if we want to leap <br>\nforward with a more prudent attitude. At the initial stage we <br>\nlost East Timor. Later the situation in Papua deteriorated. <br>\nAlthough special autonomy has been granted to Papua and the <br>\nprovince has been split into more than one province, the demand <br>\nfor separation from the Indonesian republic is still there.<\/p>\n<p>The Youth Pledge issued in October 1928 represents only a <br>\nsmall record in the nation's history, but its spirit may continue <br>\nto inspire us to maintain our national integrity.<\/p>\n<p>YANWAR PRIBADI<br>\nSerang, Banten<\/p>",
