The Head of the Komnas HAM Secretariat for Maluku Province, Sutikno,\nexpressed gratitude to the Maluku Regional Police for their swift\nresponse to the assault case committed by a Maluku Regional Police\nMobile Brigade (Brimob) officer, First Class Private (Bripda) MS, in\nTual City. Sutikno commended the police for dishonourably discharging\nBripda MS through an ethics hearing.<\/p>\n
\u201cFirst of all, I would like to thank the Maluku Regional Police for\nresponding swiftly to the assault case by a Brimob member in Tual City,\nwhich resulted in the death of a 14-year-old minor. We also appreciate\nthe steps taken by the regional police in processing the suspect through\na code of ethics hearing,\u201d Sutikno said at the Maluku Regional Police\nheadquarters on Tuesday (24\/2\/2026).<\/p>\n
Sutikno, who was also present at the ethics hearing, said the\nproceedings were conducted transparently. He expressed hope that the\ndishonourable discharge decision would deliver a sense of justice to the\nvictim\u2019s family.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe hearing was conducted in a transparent, accountable manner, with\ndue caution exercised in the reading of the ethics board verdict in the\nearly hours of this morning. We hope this decision can provide a sense\nof justice to the family who lost their child,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He also expressed hope that subsequent legal proceedings would\nproceed smoothly, affirming that Komnas HAM would escort and oversee the\ncriminal process against Bripda MS.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe also hope the subsequent legal process \u2014 the criminal proceedings\n\u2014 can move forward, and this remains a matter of attention for Komnas\nHAM to escort and supervise the ongoing criminal process,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Bripda MS Dismissed<\/strong><\/p>\n Previously, Brimob officer Bripda MS was found to have violated the\nIndonesian National Police Code of Ethics in the assault case that\nkilled a madrasah student identified as AT (14) in Tual City, Maluku.\nBripda MS was dishonourably discharged for the proven violations.<\/p>\n \u201cThe Police Code of Ethics Commission has handed down the following\nverdict: first, the offender\u2019s behaviour is declared a disgraceful act.\nSecond, placement in a special facility for four days from 21 February\n2026 to 24 February 2026,\u201d said Maluku Regional Police Public Relations\nChief Commissioner Rusitah Umasugi in the early hours of Tuesday\n(24\/2\/2026).<\/p>\n \u201cAnd third, dishonourable discharge (PTDH) as a member of the\nIndonesian National Police,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n In the hearing, Bripda MS was found to have violated Article 13\nparagraph 1 of Government Regulation Number 1 of 2003 concerning the\nDismissal of Members of the Indonesian National Police, in conjunction\nwith Article 5 paragraph 1 letters b and c, Article 8 letter c point 1,\nand Article 13 letter m of Indonesian National Police Regulation Number\n7 of 2022 concerning the Professional Code of Ethics and Code of Ethics\nCommission of the Indonesian National Police.<\/p>\n In response to the dishonourable discharge verdict, Bripda MS stated\nhe would take time to consider his options.<\/p>\n National Police Chief Gives Attention to the\nCase<\/strong><\/p>\n Maluku Regional Police Chief Inspector General Dadang Hartanto said\nthat National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo had instructed\nhim to take firm action, process the case thoroughly, deliver justice to\nthe victim\u2019s family, and conduct legal proceedings transparently.\nInspector General Dadang added that the National Police Chief had also\ndeployed a team to resolve the case.<\/p>\n \u201cThe National Police Chief has also deployed a team from the Special\nCases Section and the National Police Inspectorate General to conduct\ncomprehensive supervision and examination. In this regard, the Maluku\nRegional Police has also received assistance from the Professional and\nSecurity Division of National Police Headquarters as the internal\noversight body, and the Maluku Regional Police has also involved\nexternal oversight in this case,\u201d Inspector General Dadang said during a\npress conference in the early hours of the morning.<\/p>",
