National figure Roeslan in ICU<\/p>\n

Independence figure Roeslan Abdulgani is in the intensive care
\nunit at Gatot Soebroto Army Hospital in Central Jakarta, where he
\nis being treated for a mild stroke and a lung infection.<\/p>\n
A member of the medical team treating the 91-year-old man,
\nHafild B. Abdulgani, said on Sunday afternoon that Roeslan, who
\nis better known as Cak Roes, was in critical condition.<\/p>\n
Hafild, who is also Roeslan's son, told Antara the
\npresidential medical team was treating the former foreign
\nminister, who served in the administration of founding president
\nSukarno.<\/p>\n
Presidential medical team coordinator Djoko Rahardjo said
\nRoeslan was admitted to the intensive care unit on Friday,<\/p>\n
A family member said Roeslan suffered a mild stroke the
\nprevious week. Roeslan was already in poor health before the
\nstroke with a lung infection.<\/p>\n
The relative added that Roeslan's health problems could be
\npartly explained by the demanding schedule of meetings he
\ncontinued to maintain despite his age.<\/p>\n
Roeslan has been seen at several gatherings organized by a
\nsplinter group of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle
\n(PDI-P).<\/p>\n
The medical team said Roeslan stood a great chance of
\nrecovering.<\/p>\n
Since arriving at the hospital Roeslan has received a number
\nof guests, including former president Soeharto, Minister of
\nForeign Affairs Hassan Wirayuda and State Minister for Women's
\nEmpowerment Meutia Hatta Swasono, whose late father, Mohammad
\nHatta, the country's first vice president, was a close friend of
\nCak Roes. Two members of the PDI-P splinter group, Sophan
\nSophiaan and Arifin Panigoro, have also visited Roeslan.<\/p>",
