        "content": "<p>Jakarta \u2013 The National Commission on Violence Against Women (Komnas\nPerempuan) has characterised the acid attack on Andrie Yunus, Deputy\nCoordinator of the Commission for the Disappeared and Victims of\nViolence (KontraS), as a serious threat to all human rights workers in\nIndonesia.<\/p>\n<p>Dahlia Madanih, Deputy Chairwoman of Komnas Perempuan, stated that\nher institution, as a national human rights body specifically addressing\nwomen\u2019s rights, views any threat against human rights defenders as a\nthreat to all human rights workers. \u201cThis threat also extends to Women\nHuman Rights Defenders (PPHAM) who work in sectors and areas that\nfrequently impact women,\u201d she said in a statement on Saturday, 14 March\n2026.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKomnas Perempuan urges the police to take firm action in\ninvestigating the masterminds behind this incident, not just the\nperpetrator of the attack,\u201d Dahlia stated firmly.<\/p>\n<p>Sri Agustini, Commissioner of the National Commission on Human Rights\n(Komnas HAM), added that the state has an obligation to provide\nprotection to victims and witnesses as regulated under Law No.\u00a031 of\n2014 on the Protection of Witnesses and Victims. \u201cInternationally,\nIndonesia is also bound by the principles contained in the United\nNations Declaration on Human Rights Defenders of 1998, which guarantees\nevery person\u2019s right to advocate for and protect human rights without\nthreat and violence,\u201d Sri said.<\/p>\n<p>The acid attack occurred after Andrie completed recording a podcast\nat the offices of the Indonesian Legal Aid Institute Foundation (YLBHI)\nwith the title \u201cRemilitarisation and Judicial Review in Indonesia\u201d.
