The plan to manufacture cheap national cars here seems to be
\nhaving a worldwide impact, particularly in countries with
\nautomotive industries like Japan and the United States. What
\nsteps will Indonesia take now that the national car policy has
\nbeen issued? In my opinion, the only thing we people should do is
\ngive full support and, if possible, be directly involved in the
\nmanufacturing of the cars. This is the right moment for the
\nIndonesian people to lift the dignity and international image of
\nthe nation.<\/p>\n
Why should we be fussy about things like beauty contests and
\nthings which have no added value? My colleagues and I have been
\nand still are working for a foreign company which has a long
\nhistory in the car industry. I know for sure that the concept of
\ntechnology transfer is still lip service and only found in books
\nand lecture rooms. Many of these car companies have transferred
\nout-dated technology just to deceive the ignorant masses. Through
\ncareful analysis we can see that we have been cheated.<\/p>\n
As for the national car policy in reality, we should recall
\nthe management maxim which states that: A sound decision is
\nfutile if it is not implemented.<\/p>\n
