JAKARTA \u2014 The Government has begun activating national transport\noversight ahead of the Eid homecoming rush in 2026. A total of 1,560\nmonitoring posts have been established to supervise passenger movements\nacross various transport modes, whilst ensuring that travel during the\nhomecoming and return journey periods runs smoothly.<\/p>\n
This initiative commenced with the opening of the Central Unified Eid\nTransport Post 2026 by Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi at the\nMinistry of Transport headquarters in Jakarta on Friday (13 March\n2026).<\/p>\n
According to Dudy, the post will serve as the national coordination\ncentre for monitoring transport operations and accelerating inter-agency\ncoordination should any obstacles arise in the field.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn line with President Prabowo Subianto\u2019s directive, the Government\nensures that all transport facilities and public services during the\nhomecoming period run smoothly through strong coordination between\nministries, regional governments, state-owned enterprises, the private\nsector, and all transport stakeholders,\u201d Dudy said at his office.<\/p>\n
He added that the post will also function as a supervision,\nmonitoring, and evaluation centre for the Eid transport operations down\nto regional level.<\/p>\n
The Government is ensuring the readiness of transport infrastructure\nand facilities across all modes. Additionally, restrictions on certain\ntransport services will be implemented ahead of the peak homecoming and\nreturn journey periods to reduce queues and congestion.<\/p>\n
The Ministry of Transport has also prepared transport vehicle\nreserves according to field requirements.<\/p>\n
Various other measures have been prepared, including safety\ninspections to ensure vehicle operational standards, traffic management\ncoordination with the Police, Armed Forces, and regional governments, as\nwell as policies for reduced airfares and toll discounts.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Ministry of Transport is also providing a free travel programme\nto assist the public, conducting extensive public education for\npersonnel and the public regarding transport service policies, transport\nsafety and security aspects, as well as intensive coordination with\nrelevant stakeholders,\u201d Dudy added.<\/p>\n
He therefore urged all stakeholders to have a shared understanding\nand perception when implementing mobility control policies in the\nfield.<\/p>\n
Moreover, oversight must be conducted firmly yet humanely,\nprioritising public service and transparent, easily understood public\ncommunication.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn this way, the public can understand the policies adopted by the\nGovernment, and it also maintains consistency in communication to avoid\ncontradictory information or sectoral ego concerns,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n
