        "content": "<p>JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - NasDem Party General Treasurer Ahmad Sahroni\nhas rejected the Corruption Eradication Commission\u2019s (KPK) proposal\nurging a limit on the tenure of political party leaders to a maximum of\ntwo terms.<\/p>\n<p>Sahroni emphasised that the tenure of party leaders is entirely\nwithin the purview of each political party and cannot be interfered with\nby external parties.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhether two, three terms or even forever, that is the decision of\neach political party. It is the right of the political parties and\ncannot be meddled with,\u201d Sahroni said when contacted on Wednesday\n(22\/4\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>He added that all mechanisms, processes, and dynamics related to\nleadership within the party are internal matters.<\/p>\n<p>It was previously reported that the KPK, through its Monitoring\nDirectorate, proposed limiting the tenure of political party leaders to\na maximum of two management terms.<\/p>\n<p>This proposal stems from the KPK\u2019s study on political party\ngovernance, which found a lack of integrated cadre development standards\nwithin party structures.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo ensure the implementation of cadre development, regulations are\nneeded to limit the leadership tenure of party leaders to a maximum of\ntwo management periods,\u201d stated the KPK\u2019s Monitoring Directorate on\nWednesday.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to term limits, the KPK has proposed that the Ministry of\nHome Affairs develop standardisation and an integrated reporting system\nfor party cadre development linked to political party funding\n(banpol).<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, the anti-corruption agency has suggested several changes\nin the revision of Article 29 of Law No.\u00a02 of 2011 on Political\nParties.<\/p>\n<p>Among them are categorising party members into youth, intermediate,\nand senior members, as well as clearer regulations on cadre progression\nfor prospective legislative candidates.<\/p>\n<p>The KPK also proposed that presidential, vice-presidential, and\nregional head candidates come from the party cadre system, along with\nminimum membership duration requirements before nomination.<\/p>",
