        "content": "<p>Nasdaq board to examine IPO<\/p>\n<p>BOMBAY (Reuters): The U.S. Nasdaq stockmarket has set up a<br>\nboard committee to examine plans for an initial public offering<br>\nand expects a decision later this year, Nasdaq vice chairman<br>\nAlfred R Berkeley told Reuters Television on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>\"We have appointed a committee of the board to examine the<br>\nissue and I expect they would be back with a report later this<br>\nyear, maybe as early as fall,\" Berkeley, in Bombay to attend the<br>\nIndian software industry's annual conference, said in an<br>\ninterview.<\/p>\n<p>Speculation that Nasdaq will follow the lead set by two<br>\nleading European exchanges and list its shares has mounted in<br>\nrecent weeks. Nasdaq is the second-largest U.S. stockmarket after<br>\nthe New York Stock Exchange.<\/p>\n<p>Deutsche Boerse, the German stock exchange operator, listed<br>\nits shares last Monday through an issue that raised almost one<br>\nbillion euros, while Euronext, the merged entity combining the<br>\nAmsterdam, Brussels and Paris bourses, plans an initial public<br>\noffering (IPO) of shares in May.<\/p>",
