One of the locations where the\nprayers were held was Surau Gadang in Pauh District, Padang, attended by\ndozens of congregants.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTonight, the congregation at Surau Gadang performed the first\nevening of Tarawih and Witir prayers,\u201d said Imam of the Naqshbandiyya\nOrder at Surau Baru, Buya Zahar, on Monday (16\/2\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>Buya Zahar said the Naqshbandiyya Order had determined that 1 Ramadan\n1447 Hijriah falls on Tuesday, 17 February 2026.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTomorrow the congregants will have their sahur meal, followed by a\nfull day of fasting,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Buya Zahar explained that the Naqshbandiyya Order\u2019s determination of\n1 Ramadan is based on the methods of hisab (astronomical calculation),\nrukyat (moon sighting), and analogical reasoning from religious\ntexts.<\/p>\n<p>Based on these calculations, 1 Ramadan falls on Tuesday (17\/2), which\nis recorded as being earlier than the government\u2019s official\ndetermination.<\/p>\n<p>Nevertheless, the order considers this not to be a problem, as it is\nmerely a difference in calculation methods.<\/p>",
