NAM art show this month<\/p>\n
JAKARTA: Singapore and China signed a loan agreement yesterday
\nwith the Indonesian ministry of education and culture, pledging
\ntheir participation in the Non-Aligned Movement's contemporary
\nart exhibition which will be held here later this month.<\/p>\n
The agreement, signed by Director General of Culture Edi
\nSedyawati, Ambassador of Singapore Edward Lee Kwong Foo and the
\nChinese Embassy's Counselor for Cultural Affairs Li Wen Zhong,
\nplaces the two countries on a list together with 47 other NAM
\ncountries which have already signed similar agreements.<\/p>\n
The loan agreement allows the works of artists from the two
\ncountries to be exhibited at the event, scheduled to be held
\nbetween April 28 and June 30 in Jakarta.<\/p>\n
Edi told reporters after the signing ceremony that the
\ncurators who will be managing the event should avoid favoritism
\nin selecting the works of arts to be exhibited.<\/p>\n
The exhibition, which will be opened by President Soeharto,
\nwill be managed by curators at both the international and
\nnational levels.<\/p>\n
International curators are responsible for the choice of works
\nof art from selections made by national curators in the
