The Nagekeo Regency government, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), has\npresented several management schemes for earthquake victims following\ntheir return to their respective homes.<\/p>\n
The Deputy Regent of Nagekeo, Gonzalo Gratianus Muga Sada, explained\nthat residents who were previously displaced across three main\nposts\u2014namely Berdikari Danga Field, Aeramo Village, and Lape Ward\u2014have\nall been returned to their homes.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs of today, it is confirmed that there are no longer any refugees\nin those centralised posts,\u201d said Gonzalo during an interview at the\nNagever Earthquake Emergency Response Post on Thursday (3\/9\/2026).<\/p>\n
According to Gonzalo, if emergency tents are still being used in\nindividual villages, these are considered independent displacements\nrather than centralised ones. On the other hand, plans for the\nconstruction of temporary housing are 100 per cent confirmed. However,\neverything is still in the assessment or feasibility study stage, which\nis expected to be completed within the next two days. The purpose of\nthis assessment is to ensure that not all residents have to rebuild\ntents beside their homes.<\/p>\n
The assessment includes three categories: light damage will be marked\nwith green, meaning all rooms are usable so residents do not need to\nrequest tarpaulins, blankets, or other supplies. The medium damage\ncategory will be marked with yellow, indicating that some rooms can be\nused while others cannot. Meanwhile, heavy damage will be marked with\nred, meaning all rooms are automatically unusable. \u201cThese three schemes\nare currently being implemented on the ground,\u201d Gonzalo explained.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, Gonzalo stated that the provision of ready-to-eat meals\nfrom the main post, the Nagekeo Police, and Catholic youth groups for\nrefugees has ceased because all public kitchens have been closed. \u201cWhat\nwe are sending now is raw goods where available, alongside tarpaulins,\ntents, mats, and mattresses, but the provision of these raw goods is\ndecreasing every day,\u201d Gonzalo explained.<\/p>\n
He revealed that the reason for the decrease in raw goods is that\nfunding from the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) has also\nceased under the refugee management scheme. Consequently, everything is\nnow being handled using the region\u2019s Unallocated Expenditure (BTT)\nbudget. \u201cDuring the first stage of emergency response, effectiveness had\nto be prioritised without considering efficiency, but in this second\nstage, considerations for efficiency must begin while continuing to\nmaintain cost-effectiveness,\u201d said Gonzalo.<\/p>\n
Regarding clean water needs, it remains the government\u2019s\nresponsibility to provide daily deliveries via water tankers. However,\nthis is a short-term measure as many residents\u2019 clean water storage\nfacilities were also affected. For the long term, the government will\nimmediately repair clean water pipe installations, both upstream and\ndownstream.
