        "content": "<p>Jakarta (ANTARA) - Nadiem Anwar Makarim\u2019s legal adviser, Zaid\nMushafi, stated that his client has submitted three applications to\nchange his detention status related to the Chromebook case, in line with\nthe health condition of the Minister of Education, Culture, Research,\nand Technology for the 2019\u20132024 period.<\/p>\n<p>The change is based on facts from hospital certificates and doctors,\nwhich have been submitted since last Ramadan.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor that reason, at the time we reported or the latest submission,\nthe panel of judges was deliberating,\u201d Zaid said when met at the\nCorruption Court at the Central Jakarta District Court on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>He hopes the request to change the detention status can be granted by\nthe panel of judges on humanitarian grounds.<\/p>\n<p>Zaid explained that before the trial for the alleged Chromebook\ncorruption case, his client had undergone one surgical procedure.\nThroughout the trial, Nadiem underwent three more surgeries.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s why, to avoid the illness recurring, we request the change,\u201d\nhe said.<\/p>\n<p>Nevertheless, Zaid emphasised that if the panel of judges approves\nthe change in Nadiem\u2019s detention status, it will not diminish or reduce\nhis client\u2019s determination.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, Nadiem will continue to prove to Indonesia\u2019s\nnational history that he is not guilty of corruption during his tenure\nas Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology.<\/p>\n<p>Moreover, the expert examination trial has proven that the Annual Tax\nNotification Letter (SPT) transactions for Nadiem show no incoming funds\nof Rp809 billion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHopefully, this request to change the detention status is granted\nand Mr Nadiem can be released soon,\u201d Zaid said.<\/p>\n<p>The corruption is alleged to have been committed by implementing the\nprocurement of information and communication technology-based learning\nfacilities in the form of Chromebook laptops and CDM for the 2020, 2021,\nand 2022 fiscal years, not in accordance with the procurement planning\nand principles.<\/p>\n<p>Nadiem\u2019s actions are charged as being committed jointly with three\nother defendants in separate trials, namely Ibam, Mulyatsyah, and Sri\nWahyuningsih, as well as Jurist Tan, who is currently a fugitive.<\/p>\n<p>In detail, the state losses caused amount to Rp1.56 trillion related\nto the educational digitalisation programme at the Ministry of\nEducation, Culture, Research, and Technology, as well as US$44.05\nmillion or equivalent to Rp621.39 billion due to the procurement of\nunnecessary and unbeneficial CDM for the educational digitalisation\nprogramme.<\/p>\n<p>With those actions, Nadiem is alleged to have received money\namounting to Rp809.59 billion originating from PT Aplikasi Karya Anak\nBangsa (PT AKAB) through PT Gojek Indonesia.<\/p>\n<p>It is stated that most of PT AKAB\u2019s funding sources come from\nGoogle\u2019s investment worth US$786.99 million.<\/p>\n<p>This can be seen from Nadiem\u2019s wealth recorded in the LHKPN for 2022,\nwhich includes asset gains in the form of securities worth Rp5.59\ntrillion.<\/p>\n<p>For his actions, the former Minister of Education, Culture, Research,\nand Technology faces penalties under Article 2 paragraph (1) or Article\n3 in conjunction with Article 18 of Law No.\u00a031 of 1999 on the\nEradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended and supplemented\nby Law No.\u00a020 of 2001 jo Article 55 paragraph (1) first of the Criminal\nCode.<\/p>",
