        "content": "<p>Jakarta - Former Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and\nTechnology Nadiem Makarim has asserted that his Tax Notification Letter\n(SPT) has no connection whatsoever to the alleged corruption case in the\nprocurement of Chromebook-based laptops.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe question from the public is, what is the connection between the\ninternal corporate transaction with Chromebook and Google? There is\nabsolutely no connection,\u201d said Nadiem when met during a break in the\ntrial at the Jakarta Corruption Court on Monday (30\/3\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat is the connection between my SPT and the Chromebook\nprocurement? I reported all of that,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Nadiem questioned the reason why the public prosecutor opened his\npersonal tax SPT data during the trial. It seemed as if there was\nmanipulation of the data within it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll of my tax SPTs were displayed in front of the entire trial, my\nhonesty in reporting everything openly without hiding anything is now\nbeing used to manipulate facts and just to be revealed,\u201d Nadiem\nadded.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlhamdulillah, it has been proven because all of my tax SPTs were\nrevealed that there is no Rp 809 billion figure at all in all of my tax\nreports,\u201d said Nadiem again.<\/p>\n<p>Nadiem asserted that the Rp 809 billion is a transaction between PT\nAplikasi Karya Anak Bangsa (PT AKAB, now renamed PT Gojek Tokopedia Tbk)\nand PT Gojek Indonesia.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat transaction was fully returned to PT AKAB because there was a\ndebt from PT GI. So, the Rp 809 billion was returned intact to PT AKAB,\u201d\nsaid Nadiem.<\/p>\n<p>In this case, former Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and\nTechnology Nadiem Makarim along with three other defendants is said to\nhave caused state financial losses amounting to Rp 2.1 trillion.<\/p>\n<p>Nadiem is charged with enriching himself by Rp 809 billion. This\nfigure is said to come from Google\u2019s investment in Gojek or PT AKAB.<\/p>\n<p>Nadiem is accused of misusing his authority, making Google the sole\ncontroller of IT procurement, one of which is laptops, in Indonesia\u2019s\ntechnology ecosystem.<\/p>\n<p>This was done by directing the procurement study to focus on one\nproduct, namely Chrome-based devices which are Google\u2019s products.<\/p>\n<p>Nadiem carried out this act together with three other defendants,\nnamely former Technology Consultant in the Ministry of Education,\nCulture, Research, and Technology, Ibrahim Arief; Director of SMP in the\nMinistry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology from 2020\u20132021\nas well as Budget User Representative (KPA), Mulyatsyah; and Director of\nSD in the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology from\n2020\u20132021 as well as KPA, Sri Wahyuningsih.<\/p>\n<p>For their actions, Nadiem and the other defendants are threatened\nwith Article 2 Paragraph (1) and Article 3 jo. Article 18 of Law No.\u00a031\nof 1999 as amended and supplemented by Law No.\u00a020 of 2001 on Amendments\nto Law No.\u00a031 of 1999 on the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption\njo.
