How is the N 250 aircraft, manufactured by PT Dirgantara
\nIndonesia, faring now? Since it was manufactured, it has never
\nbeen widely exposed to the public. I propose that the aircraft be
\nput on display for several days at our airports so that the
\ncommunity may have an opportunity to look at this aircraft.<\/p>\n
This aircraft, which is the world's most sophisticated
\naircraft in the commuter category, is the creation of our most
\ntalented people. Therefore, it must be promoted to encourage the
\ndevelopment of science and technology in our country.<\/p>\n
It is a pity that few of our people have the opportunity to
\nappreciate this fine achievement. This case reminds us of
\nFrance's airbus. When it was first introduced, it was superior to
\nsimilar aircraft in its class as it could save fuel by up to 30
\npercent. Unfortunately, in its early days, even Air France
\npreferred to buy a Boeing. But when a consortium of airliners of
\nneighboring countries decided to use it, airbus became popular.<\/p>\n
Finally, there is a sad report about Dirgantara. This
\nmanufacturer is said to lack funds for its development. Isn't it
\nironic that while funds seem to be easily available in this
\ncountry for the development of entertainment places, the
\nconstruction of posh hotels and apartments, election campaigns,
\nand even for corruption, they are not forthcoming for the
\ndevelopment of an aircraft-manufacturing industry, the benefit of
\nwhich is very clear.<\/p>\n
