Myanmar's 'road map' to be discussed<\/p>\n
THAILAND: Thailand will host a 10-nation meeting to discuss
\nMyanmar's proposed "road map" toward democratic reform in Bangkok
\nthis month, officials and reports said on Thursday.<\/p>\n
The Nation newspaper said Austria, China, France, Germany,
\nIndia, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia and Singapore had been invited
\nto send representatives to the talks due to be held on Dec. 15.<\/p>\n
Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra confirmed Thailand was
\nexpecting up to 10 countries to attend the meeting, which will be
\na forum for Myanmar to explain the road map, including "free and
\nfair" elections and a new constitution.<\/p>\n
"Thailand wants all participants to engage in constructive
\ndiscussion, brainstorming on a possible solution for Myanmar and
\nalso to listen to Myanmar's ideas," he told reporters. "Myanmar
\nwelcomes and is open to suggestions."<\/p>\n
Foreign ministry spokesman Sihasak Phuangketkeow said that
\napart from ministers from "like-minded" countries such as
\nSingapore, experts, including United Nations special envoy to
\nMyanmar Razali Ismail, would also be invited. -- AFP<\/p>",
