Gen. Khin Nyunt's rare official visit to Thailand is the<br>\nlatest effort to patch up ties between the two uneasy neighbors,<br>\nwhose armies clashed earlier this year at their common border.<\/p>\n<p>Thai Defense Minister Chavalit Yongchaiyudh told reporters<br>\nthat Khin Nyunt was visiting the ThaiCom satellite station to see<br>\nthe progress of Thailand's high-tech communications industry, \"as<br>\na model for development in his own country.\"<\/p>\n<p>On Monday, Chavalit, a former army chief with long-standing<br>\nlinks to the Myanmar regime, hosted a three-hour dinner cruise on<br>\nBangkok's Chao Phraya river for Khin Nyunt and his 32-member<br>\ndelegation.<\/p>",
