        "content": "<p>Myanmar dealt blow over accord<\/p>\n<p>BRUSSELS (AFP): The European Commission has proposed protocols<br>\nextending a cooperation accord between the European Union and<br>\nASEAN to Laos and Cambodia, but not to Myanmar.<\/p>\n<p>\"It is expected that the (European) Council will approve the<br>\nprotocols, so that they can be signed on 28 July ... during the<br>\nASEAN Post-Ministerial Conference in Bangkok,\" the commission<br>\nsaid in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>\"These protocols will allow the two countries to benefit from<br>\nthe European Community economic cooperation projects and programs<br>\nprovided under the regional cooperation agreement with ASEAN, and<br>\nto strengthen their dialog\" with the European Community,\" it<br>\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>It added: \"There is no intention at present to extend the EC-<br>\nASEAN Cooperation Agreement to Burma,\" or Myanmar, as it calls<br>\nitself.
