        "content": "<p>Muslims, Christians make peace<\/p>\n<p>TERNATE, North Maluku: Some 2,000 Muslims and Christians in<br>\nLoloda subdistrict on Halmahera island, North Maluku, held on<br>\nFriday a traditional Baku Bae (peace-making) ceremony.<\/p>\n<p>The island has been divided by communal conflict since 1999.<\/p>\n<p>The ceremony was attended by North Maluku Governor Muhyi<br>\nEffendie, security commanders and local figures, Antara reported.<\/p>\n<p>The ceremony began with both parties laying down thousands of<br>\nweapons, such as bombs, arrow and spears, before destroying all<br>\nof them together.<\/p>\n<p>They also agreed to ignore any provocation.<\/p>\n<p>Christian residents in Loloda several times reportedly refused<br>\nto allow Muslims refugees to return to their homes in and around<br>\nHalmahera, but have apparently had a change of heart.(hdn)<\/p>",
